BOARD OF LNW

The Board provides strategic leadership and oversight, and is accountable for the governance and performance of Lepelle Northern Water.

Governance/ Leadership: He possesses strategic leadership skills and expertise that have been instrumental in stabilising and turning around Lepelle Northern Water (LNW). Since his appointment, there has been notable improvement in LNW’s financial standing and leadership effectiveness. The renewed image of the organisation is a testament to his impactful contribution and visionary leadership. With over 20 years of industry experience, he is a highly qualified and seasoned leader and consultant. He is a well-rounded, established, and inspiring strategic thought leader, capable of engaging with businesses and stakeholders to identify key opportunities and challenges. His approach enables the development of long-term strategies that ensure effective alignment and implementation of programmes. His areas of expertise include Good governance, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Sustainability, Health, Safety, and Security, and Stakeholder

Governance/ Leadership/ Law: Consultant at Mahube Training & Development (Pty) Ltd and a Director at Coldreek Investments. He has served as the Executive Mayor of Capricorn DM, Chief Executive at LEDA, Councillor and a Member of Parliament of the RSA. He was also the co-chairperson of the Joint Standing Committee on the financial management of Parliament. He has demonstrated his leadership skills through his involvement in various community and leadership roles across various sectors of society.

Dr Ruiters boasts extensive experience and expertise in the water sector through the application of his engineering and science knowledge. He has extensive experience in environment and water resources and supply services engineering and management. His vocational work experience includes water resources infrastructure, water supply management, water distribution infrastructure, operations, and maintenance, water, and wastewater treatment as well as solid waste management. He is a registered Professional Civil Engineer and Natural Scientist. He belongs to several professional bodies in engineering and science.

Water/ Engineering Mechanical/ Project Management: She has huge experience on infrastructure development as a previous General Manager in Magalies Water and in the South African public sector-built environment. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) affiliated with the Project Management Institute since 2016. She has served on various an executive committees. She is currently the Deputy Chairperson of the Vaal Orange Catchment Management Agency Board.. She is the founder and CEO of First Principles Engineering. She is a Member of the Integrated Transport Sector B-BBEE Charter Council (Youth Representative).

Environmental Management, Water Resources Management/ Climate Change: She is a focused environmental sustainability executive with over 20 years’ experience in environmental management, sustainability, water resources management, mine closure, ESG, and climate change in the mining industry. Experienced environmental sustainability professional who brings forward knowledge and expertise drawing from the regulators, mining industry, and expert knowledge perspective to ensure that any development takes place in an environmentally friendly manner. She is currently the Head of Department: Environment, Minerals Council South Africa

Water Management: Director at AHL Water. She has 18 years’ experience in all aspects of water and wastewater treatment: treatment technologies, design, operation, maintenance, and management of water and wastewater supply system. She has done projects with various entities, including LNW and Vaal Central Water, on a range of water related issues.

Governance/ Leadership/ Social Work: She has worked in 3 spheres of government for 35 years, and the highest position was on the DDG level. She possesses strength in stakeholder relations, including counselling with a focus on grief and stress. She has been in the development, implementation and management of organisational strategies for many years. In association with the Institute of Performance Management, she has facilitated strategic sessions for a number of Boards.

Engineering Chemical/ Water Academic: An academic in engineering and employed at the University of Johannesburg. She is an accomplished and results-driven leader with a proven track record of success in academia, research, and community engagement. With over 10 years extensive experience in chemical engineering, education, and strategic management, exceling in driving organizational growth, fostering innovation, and promoting diversity and inclusion. Early Career Editorial Board Member, Chemical Engineering Journal, Elsevier since 2022 and is a member of two other committees.

Finance: Acting Director: Financial Governance and Compliance – UNISA. He is a qualified CA (SA) with extensive experience in financial reporting and management, preparations of Annual Financial Statements, group audit coordination, and treasury functions. His highlight is overseeing the company and enabled the achievement of over R100m surplus from a R94m loss.

Chemical Engineering/ Leadership/ Governance: She is an Associate Professor with notable academic credentials and a researcher with extensive experience in water and sanitation sciences. She has Water Academic/ HR/ Leadership/ Governance expertise. She is contributing to numerous national and international research initiatives and actively serves on various university committees and as a reviewer for the National Research Foundation (NRF). She possesses strong leadership qualities, analytical skills, strategic decision-making capabilities, and high ethical standards. She is currently the Head of Department in the Water and Sanitation Faculty of Science and Agriculture, University of Limpopo.

Information Technology/ Computer Science: He has a combination of private and public sector experience, ICT governance expertise, and strategic leadership which can contribute significantly to Lepelle Northern Water Board’s mission of modernizing government services. He has track record of delivering impactful ICT solutions and fostering governance excellence. He has actively volunteered his expertise to serve on various boards and committees GDIZ (Gauteng Industrial Development Zone), NCR (National Credit Regulator), GTEDA (Greater Taung Economic Development Agency), PACOFS (Performing Arts Centre of the Free State) TENET (Tertiary Education & Research Network of South Africa) , SAFIRE (South African Federation Identity), UNISA SOC (School of Computing) among others

Law/ Governance: He is admitted and enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. He practised law as an Advocate in Polokwane specializing in labour and civil litigation. He has more than 16 years’ experience serving on Boards of Directors/Councils of public and private entities. He Member of the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) since 26 July 2022 to date. He was a Board Chairperson of the National Lotteries Participants Trust (NLPT) . He brings in huge governance experience having has served in various Boards in different capacities.
